Terms of Use

These conditions govern use of Berkeley County Criminal History. Visiting a page, reading its material, or submitting a search means the user accepts them. Anyone who does not agree should stop using the site.

NO FCRA USE. This privately operated website has no government affiliation. It and its advertising partners do not offer services for credit, employment, insurance, tenant, or other decisions regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act. The resource helps readers find Berkeley County and South Carolina record offices. It is neither a consumer reporting agency nor a private-investigation firm.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site, independent from every government office. It neither stores official records nor retrieves them, conducts official checks, or files documents for users.

Its content identifies Berkeley County Sheriff's Office, the criminal courts, South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, and the South Carolina Sex Offender Registry as official record routes. Some pages also connect to outside research tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

A user agrees not to:

  • Break any federal, state, or local law while using this site
  • Use information you find here to stalk, harass, or threaten anyone
  • Base hiring, housing, lending, or insurance decisions on content from this site
  • Try to break into our systems or gain access you are not supposed to have
  • Run bots, scrapers, or automated tools against our pages
  • Do anything that slows the site down or blocks other people from using it

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

Information found here or through a linked tool must not be used to stalk, harass, threaten, intimidate, or unlawfully discriminate. South Carolina Code §23-3-510 can enhance criminal penalties when South Carolina Sex Offender Registry information is used to commit another crime. Registry data supports lawful safety awareness, never vigilantism.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA. We do not generate background checks, credit reports, or consumer reports of any kind. Neither we nor our advertising partners provide services built for screening job applicants, reviewing rental applications, calculating insurance rates, or judging creditworthiness. You agree not to use data from this site or any linked tool to:

  • Decide whether to hire or fire someone
  • Screen potential renters or housing applicants
  • Judge creditworthiness or set insurance premiums
  • Determine who qualifies for licenses, permits, or government programs
  • Do anything else that falls under FCRA rules

Any regulated background-check need belongs with South Carolina Law Enforcement Division or a screening provider that complies with the FCRA.

5. No Legal Advice

Site material is not legal advice. General Berkeley County record information cannot determine how a charge, conviction, warrant, or expungement law applies to one person. Consult a South Carolina attorney for that advice.

6. No Warranties

Everything on this site is provided "as is." We do not guarantee that:

  • The information here is accurate, complete, or current at any given time
  • The site will stay up and running without interruptions
  • Our pages are free of errors, bugs, or security holes
  • Results from our partner search tools will be thorough or accurate

Charges and records can be filed, changed, dismissed, restricted, or expunged. Gaps may result. No content here is an official statement from a court, sheriff, or government agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links to courts, sheriff pages, state agencies, legal resources, and outside search services lead to systems we do not control. Their content, availability, prices, and privacy practices are their responsibility. Review their own terms.

8. Intellectual Property

Berkeley County Criminal History or its content partners own the site's text, graphics, logos, and code. Written permission is required to copy, distribute, alter, or create derivative material.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for losses arising from use of this site or reliance on information from it or a linked service.

10. Indemnification

A user agrees to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, demands, or actions caused by that user's conduct or breach of these terms, including related legal costs.

11. Governing Law

South Carolina law governs these terms. Disputes tied to site use must be brought in a court located in South Carolina. Government-record access remains governed by South Carolina FOIA, S.C. Code Title 30, Chapter 4, and registry dissemination by S.C. Code §23-3-490.

12. Changes to These Terms

These terms may change. A revision takes effect when the updated text is posted here.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be limited or ended at any time, for any reason, without advance notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is held invalid or unenforceable, all remaining provisions continue. The affected part will be narrowed only as needed to make it enforceable.

15. Questions

Questions about these conditions may be directed through the Contact page.
