Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search box is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not keep or log those search terms on our systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or other direct message may be retained long enough to answer it. It remains within our organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
Loading a page can automatically provide the server with basic technical information:
- Page-view times and visit duration
- Browser name and version
- Device category and operating system
- Device IP address
- Pages viewed on the site
- A referring website, when one exists
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files saved on a device. They and analytics services help combine traffic data, such as popular pages and common exit points. A browser can block cookies, though doing so may change how parts of the site work.

No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not build, store, or sell a database of personal criminal records. Berkeley County guidance points to the Sheriff's Office, courts, South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, and South Carolina Sex Offender Registry as the official custodians. Visitor information is not assembled into third-party records or consumer reports, and this site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Links may lead to Berkeley County offices, South Carolina agencies, courts, legal resources, and search services. Once a reader leaves this site, the destination's privacy policy applies. Check it before providing personal information.
Advertising companies may use their own systems to track visits across websites for interest-based advertising.

Applicable privacy and consumer-protection law may provide rights depending on the facts and residence. South Carolina FOIA, S.C. Code Title 30, Chapter 4, governs access to government records, while S.C. Code §23-3-490 governs public registry dissemination. At a minimum, a user may:
